One of dad’s favorites… and mine! The surprise treat enveloped inside the charred banana leaves is so aromatic! Even better when served with the savory coconut sauce. Such fond memories of the ladies in the alley in my neighborhood in Vietnam grilling them over an open charcoal fire. A must try!
Here is what you will need:
8 Thai Bananas (if you don’t have fresh ones available
.. canned ones would work as well)
8 2inch wide banana strips
8 4×6.5 inch banana leaves (cleaned and wiped dry)
For the sauce:
1 Cup Coconut cream
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 Tbsp corn starch
¾ Cup Water
½ tsp salt
AND …
2 Cups of Sweet rice (nep)
½ cup Coconut cream
¼ tsp salt
