Calamondin (Calamasi) – a citrus fruit which is often mistaken as a “kumquat”. In fact, it is a hybrid between a citrus and a kumquat. They produce either green or orange fruit. The peels are super aromatic and are often added into juices such as sugarcane.
It’s more like a tiny lime/lemon because it’s usually super sour. I had an obsession to grow my very own orchard of them last year and I am happy to say… I now have over 40 little trees. I use their leaves in my marinade, the flower petals are saved to infuse and heighten a brewed tea experience, the peel and fruit themselves are enjoyed in my “calamonade!!!”
They are so easy to grow, and in this little clip I’m sharing, you will see how fun it is to be a “recycle gardener” – and a seedling addict! LOL Yes, every seed I get is now being replanted in the kitchen.
How very fun & cool this is. A mini-orchard of mini-trees with mini-fruit.
Not only you have a chef’s hands but also green hands too.
