About

Hello friends!

Here’s a  little about me…

My most wonderful memory goes back to when I was about 4 in Vietnam. I remember sharing a hot sweet potato with my friend on our way to pre-school. It was the most amazing, satisfying comfort to my growling belly. I ate slowly, savouring every bite. Yes…food was precious! I’ve never forgotten that moment.

At the age of 14, I was selling grilled chicken skewers for a $1.00 a stick in front of my parent’s restaurant during the Fringe Festival on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta. Oh how those days were fun! The festival would last 12 days and each day I sold at least 1000 skewers. I didn’t want it to ever end…LOL

By my early twenties I was running a little sub shop with my sisters. Our little hole in the wall was getting 4 1/2 spoons (Out of 5) from the local food critics. That was the beginning of our adventures in the restaurant industry.

To this day, my family of Cooks is my greatest inspiration and joy. Make no mistake, home cookouts are serious business as we all challenge each other for bragging rights to the most authentic and scrumptious dishes. Ok, I will admit, Mom is the reigning Queen in the kitchen.

Happy Eating!

So what restaurant did you guys used to own on Whyte Avenue? Love the fringe!

    1. Hi Doreen!
We owned “Minh’s Canton Garden” way back then. It was a Chinese restaurant nothing fancy. It’s Julios now. Yes the “Fringe is so much fun! Good memories.
