Oven Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Drums
My little nephew, Preston is probably one of my biggest taste testers. He’s only 6 years old, but he sure knows what good food is and this particular recipe is one of his very favorites! The formula is rather simple – but, the result is oh so satisfying! Even for the smallest picky foodies!
2 lbs of Chicken drums (de-boned & butterflied)
2 tsps Salt
2 Tbsps Minced garlic (or 3-4 gloves)
3 Tbsps Honey
1 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
2 Tbsps Granulated Garlic
¼ Cup Green Onion Tips
Honey Garlic Glaze:
1 Tbsp Granulate garlic
¼ Cup Honey
¼ Cup Brown Sugar
½ tsp Salt
1 tsp Soy Sauce
1/3 Cup Water
In a small mixing bowl, combine all the dry seasonings and set aside.
Using a mortar add in your minced garlic and green onion tips and sprinkle on some of the dry seasonings.
Crush the garlic and green onion tips to into the dry granules until they become a paste.
Add in the honey and the rest of the dry seasonings.
Place all the chicken into a Ziploc bag
Pour in the seasonings, seal it and give it a good rub to coat it well.
Marinate for at 4 hours or overnight in the fridge.
Preparing Honey Garlic Glaze:
Combine all the ingredients in a small pot.
Give them a good whisk to ensure they’re well combined and dissolved.
Place on high heat and bring to a boil.
Then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
Set aside and allow it to cool.
Preheat the oven to 420F.
Place the chicken on a grilling rack above a shallow tray.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Then switch to broil on high heat and brush on the glaze.
After 5 minutes, flip them over and brush on the remainder of the glaze and broil for another
5 minutes. Do watch them so they don’t burn!
You can serve with sweet glutinous rice, cucumbers and scallions in oil or in a warm toasty bun.
